Those of us in our fifties, sixties, seventies and beyond can count ourselves as part of a history-making generation—pioneers in understanding and making the most of this “third chapter” of life. These years of aging are full of opportunities for learning, growth and finding new meanings and connections. The Wise Aging program provides resources and support to live the later years with spirit, resilience, and wisdom. We will explore some of the deep questions presented by this stage of our lives. This group will use writings from the Bible, Buddhist and Christian traditions. Topics and questions are drawn from the Talmud, Hassidic stories, Rumi poetry, as well as contemporary writings by Ram Das and Rabbi Zalman Schacter Shalomi. We will be using stories, questions, and our personal reflections that enable us to come to new understandings about our lives, ourselves, and our values. Learning modalities include small and large group discussions, reflective listening and dyads. Topics include: exploring this stage of life; a life review; relationship to one’s body; revitalizing and nourishing relationships; practicing forgiveness; learning to live with loss, change, and death, cultivating wisdom, and leaving a legacy. The Teacher:Debra Rosenblum is an interfaith minister and was a public-school teacher for over 20 years. Drawing from the Heart
Drawing from the Heart will help you access the language of imagery, learn to trust and explore the creative process and interpret your images. This individual or group experience emphasizes the artistic process as a way to express and release stress. As you begin to express your imagery through your art you will discover your inner voice, the voice of your heart that speaks in imagery not words. You will use a three-step process called ART. First, you will access our inner feelings by visualizing them as images. You will release feelings through our art work and use a transformational image to empower you to change. Each session with a guided visualization focusing on the heart. Often visual images or sensations arise which allows you to commit your feelings to paper. The drawing as a lens to delve into the inner wisdom hidden in the images. These images can offer you a way to release tension, gain insights, make decisions and make lasting changes in your lives. You may find this process deeply satisfying, energizing and healing. The images are personal and creative. No special artistic skill or previous art experience is needed. I offer individual and group sessions.
